This allows both equilibrium and fractional crystallization of magmas to be modeled along a specified oxygen buffer. Water is included as a component in the liquid phase and as a separate pure phase; solubility relations can be modeled as a function of temperature pressure and liquid composition, and the effect of water on phase equilibria is included in the model.

It is better calibrated in mafic systems and should work especially well for MORBS and alkalic mafic magmas. This was done in order to model invariant behavior in naturally occurring liquids that approximate compositions in the water-saturated quartz-two-feldspar ternary. Rhyolite-MELTS is not suitable for near or sub-solidus phase equilibria, nor is it suitable for intermediate composition liquids whose phase assemblages are dominated by the presence of hornblende or biotite.

The numerical algorithms for detection of phase saturation and energy convergence have been altered in rhyolite-MELTS to substantially improve computational stability. Much above this pressure the model will fail because of limitations inherent with the liquid equation of state. The following figure illustrates future plans for extending MELTS to a broader range of temperature and pressure conditions. MELT stands for mandatory entry-level training. In July of , Ontario became the first province to require that truck drivers complete a MELT Program before they could take the test to receive their Class A license. Other provinces however soon began to follow suit with Alberta most recently requiring it on March 1st of MELT was introduced largely due to the fact that there were many shady truck driving schools out there that were doing an inadequate job of preparing students for careers as truck drivers.

Standardized MELT programs must be approved by the provincial transportation ministry and must include a minimum of Truck driving schools like Trukademy that were already meeting or exceeding MELT standards, welcomed the change. Mandatory subjects covered in the MELT program include basic driving techniques, professional driving habits, cargo securement, documentation and regulatory compliance and handling emergencies to name a few.

The purpose of MELT is to ensure the highest levels of safety and professionalism in the trucking industry, which is hoped will allow more people to choose trucking as a career.

MELT programs help prepare new truck drivers for a career in the trucking industry. Since the training is extensive, employers can feel confident that they are hiring drivers who have been thoroughly trained in the safe and efficient operation of their vehicle.

When students choose a trucking school that has a MELT program, they can feel confident that they will be getting the training necessary to excel in their careers.

While most agree that overall, the introduction of MELT Programs is a good thing, there is some concern that it will make training more expensive and possibly discourage some students from entering the trucking industry. The MELTS team took each of these skills, for example leading a questioning sequence with a group of students, and applied them to teaching English learners at three English proficiency levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced.

Each of these ten teaching skills is first modeled for student teachers at UCF, with a master teacher using the skill with elementary-age English learners in online video modules. After viewing each video, student teachers develop a similar activity that uses the skill, and they practice it in individual coaching sessions using a mixed-reality classroom with five simulated students called TeachLivE , that includes three English learners.

Using the coaching feedback, participants reflect on what they can do better and then go on to complete a skill performance assessment using TeachLivE, which ultimately leads to their earning a digital badge for the skill of focus. Participants have the opportunity to feature their digital badges on an online professional learning platform Credly and also on LinkedIn.

Principals are becoming aware of the value of the MELTS digital badges and will consider them in hiring decisions.
