Once VLC Media Player is installed, you can check the installed version using vlc --version command as shown below.
As you can see from the output, currently installed version is 3. Also you can notice that I am running vlc --version command from centos user and not using root user. This is because vlc command does not work with root user. You need to always use non-root user account to run vlc commands. Kranthi Kumar. April 7, at am.

Can this be worked around or is it a matter of waiting until the libmodplug bug is resolved? TIA, Ken. Does this mean that the message about libmodplug This notification was issued on Update to upstream version 0.
Is the version of libmonplug which is installed libmodplug Thanks again, Ken. Post by TrevorH » Sat Aug 27, pm No, it appears not to be a false positive and the version you have now is vulnerable to both CVE's you mention. I've read them both and am not greatly concerned that I'll ever hit the problems described in those reports but it might be worth mentioning this on the RPMForge mailing list. At present you seem to have two options for installing VLC 1 install vlc and coerce the system into installing an older release of libmodplug that works with it 2 install the updated libmodplug and break vlc, possibly requiring it to be removed.
